A Jewish Experience in America.
Student responses to questions: Each student responded to one question
1. Jewish people made a lot of accomplishments in America. Milton Burrow and Sammy Davis Jr. were both great actors in the old days. Other people like Gerda Weissman Klein stor is our book L.A.L. book. (Joseph London)
2. African Americans and Jews were both slaves to other people. They were treated bad and saved by famous people. The African americans were saved by Harriet Tubman and the Hebrews by Moses. They both were called Moses (Mandessa McNel)
3. I don't know if I could have taken what they did to the Jewish people. I probably would have drank posion like Mr. Frank and them were going to do. (Jeremy Hernandez)
4. The Jewish school is different from mine bcause they teach about the Jewsih life and my school doesn't teach us how to be Dominician or African American. They just teach us what they think we need to know. This year in my middle school i learned about Jews. I never learned about them before and it was fun.
5. The Hebrews were treated bad. They were beaten and killed by the Pharoah and his men. Even an old man had to make bricks when he was sick and too old to walk. But Moses saved them from their master and they were free. (Nascier Kaye)
6. For the first time a female Black Jew is becoming a Rabbi. Her name is Alysa Staton (Ga-Kriel Scott)
7. The number of Jews in the world 2007 was 13,000,000 in the USA in 2006 5,275,000 2008 6, 444,000 in Manhattan 2003 456,000 in Brooklyn 2003 243,000 1950's 2,000,000 in NY in 2000 972,000 in NY now 5.2 million Jews in NJ and
African American Jews 2,000 to 20, 000 are now in USA (Traevon Jeter)
8. There are Jewish schools in WA OR NV CA AZ NM CO KS TX FL NJ NY MA ME NH NC SC AL NE IA MN NI IL IN OH PA WV VA RI AND LA. None are in the other states. (Ricardi Petoite)
9. William Herschel was the atronomer who discovered Uranus. He is part Jewish from his mother. (Nah-Jere Reid)
10. I have a learned about the Jewish experience from all the things we read, saw, and did in our class. I know that they can eat food that does say Kosher. I know they went through a lot of torcher from the Egyptians and Hitler. I know they just can't eat all the candy i do because some candy have gelatin and tha's pork. I also know that they don't eat pork like Muslims don't. They don't believe Jesus is a messenger only Moses. They had to work in factories for no money like slaves did on a plantation.
